Senior Class Meeting

Congratulations!  You are near to the end of your secondary education.  In what will seem like a few days, you will meet to rehearse your graduation ceremony.  Don’t jeopardize this joyous occasion for you and your family.  You all have passed the TAKS test, now you must conclude your required coursework.  Here is a schedule of events for the CANDIDATES for graduation.

 

  1.  Top Ten Luncheon May 1st,  at Ryan’s
  2. Band Concert May 8th, 7:00 p.m.  EHS Cafetorium.
  3. Athletic Banquet May 9th 6:00 p.m. EHS Cafetorium.
  4. Band Banquet May 18th, 7:00 p.m. EHS Cafetorium
  5.  Elkhart High School’s “E” Awards/Sr. Pep-Rally – May 18th - 9:00 a.m. – EHS Gym
  6. Student Council Talent Show May 18th – 1:30 p.m. at EHS Cafetorium.
  7. Prom May 19th EHS Gym 7:00 p. m. Coronation followed by dance in the Cafetorium.
  8. Baccalaureate Service – EHS Cafetorium –Sunday, May 20th, at 3:00 p.m.

·         Boys – Wear white shirt and a dark tie under your gown

·         Girls  - Wear a dress under your gown

·         Cords, Sashes and Honors Medallion may be worn but are not required

·         No one should wear their cap with their gowns

·         Be at the Band Hall and lined up by 2:30 p.m.

  1. Senior Exams

·         All students are required to report to school Tuesday May 22nd – Wednesday May 23rd.

·         If you are exempt from all test, you are required to sign in between 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. like you did during TAKS testing.

·         If you have to take a test, you do not have to sign in until testing time.

·         Very Important – Failure to sign in will result in an unexcused absence and you will thereby be required to take all finals.  Example – You might have only a 3rd period test on Tuesday.  You do not have to sign in until the testing time and may leave at the end of the period.  Then on Wednesday, you will simply sign in at 8:00 a.m. and leave.

·         No student may pass a class who does not take the final exam if you are not exempt.

9.         Final Exams Schedule

·         Monday (5/21) – Regular School Day

·         Tuesday (5/22) – Seniors Only – Periods (2-4-6)

·         Wednesday (5/23) – Seniors – Periods (1-3-5-7)

Graduation Rehearsal – MANDATORY attendance is required for any graduation candidate who plans on participating in the commencement ceremony.

·         Rehearsal – 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning in the cafetorium.

·         Rehearsal – 9:00 a.m. Friday at the Civic Center.

·         Dress Code is in effect whenever you are on campus.

·         Be at the Multi-Purpose Room of the Civic Center at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

 

ELKHART HIGH SCHOOL COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY – 7:00 P.M. – May 25, 2012 AT THE PALESTINE CIVIC CENTER

·                     Test will begin on May 22, 2012 for seniors only.

·                     Exempt students not leaving campus will be required to remain in class.

·                     Students will be required to only be present for non-exempt testing periods each day.

·                     Exempt students must check in for attendance purposes between 8:00 – 9:00 a.m.

·                     Students may not leave class once the period has begun until the end of period.

·                     Parent notes will not be accepted for a student release.

·                     Parents must come in the office in order to sign a student out of school.

·                     Unexcused absences on schedule final exam periods will result in a zero with no make up.

·                     Teachers will receive attendance/TAKS/ and Discipline reports for determining exemptions.

·                     Teachers will make the Final determination of student exemption in each class based on exemption criteria in the Student Handbook.
