Position Title:  Career and Technology Education Teacher (Professional Communications, Business English and possibly other courses)

 

Location:  High School

 

Beginning:  August 2012

 

Position Summary:  Provide instruction in the TEKS related to the Academic Assignment mentioned above, provide instruction in related subject area curriculum, implement developmentally appropriate materials and programs for students, prepare students for designated levels of testing, create required assessments and related documents, and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education:  Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

 

Qualifications:  Appropriately Certified for the above mentioned assignment, Highly Qualified (if applicable)

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate thoroughness, reliability, and a high degree of accuracy in performing work assignments in accordance with Texas Education Agency regulations, board policy, and administrative guidelines
  • Develop and implement plans for assigned curriculum program
  • Produce and maintain accurate grading, discipline, and attendance records
  • Maintain student confidentiality
  • Provide an organized classroom environment conducive to learning at the appropriate level of student development
  • Incorporate the use of technology in lessons when appropriate
  • Become knowledgeable of and comply with state, district and campus regulations and policies
  • Cooperate with other staff members in planning and implementing instructional goals and objectives using strategies outlined in the district and campus improvement plans and curriculum documents
  • Maintain professional relationships with staff members, students, parents, and community members
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Position Title:  Instructional Assistant (formerly titled Paraprofessional) 

 

Position Summary:  Assist Teachers in supporting the educational needs of students and other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:  Meets NCLB Highly Qualified Standard:  High School Diploma or GED plus one of the following:

  • 48 or more college credit hours,
  • Associates (or higher) Degree
  • Met a rigorous standard of quality and able to demonstrate, through formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics (or readiness for same).

OR

  • Passed exam after completing Paraprofessional Institute Training through Region VII ESC
  • Passed TASP, THEA, Compass or equivalent Exam and completed 12 or more college credit hours
  • Qualified through locally approved PAKS (Paraprofessional Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) to be followed up by the Paraprofessional Institute Training and Exam through Region VII ESC at the first available opportunity.
